They can be so tricky to accessorize. But we don’t think you should let that stop you from slipping into beautiful red prom dresses and stealing the show at your prom. We never want you to miss your chance to dazzle, so we’ve put together a few tips for you to accessorize and style your ideal prom dress! Check them out here!
Keep it Simple
You’re obviously welcome to march to the beat of your own drum, but traditionally, keeping your accessories super simple is what’s going to help keep your look glamorous. The red dress is a powerhouse all its own – in other words, it already has the attention of everyone in the room, you don’t need to add statement jewelry or sparkling heels to try and up its game. It’s already doing all the work for you! If you want to add in jewelry, a clutch, and pretty heels, ensure that you’re keeping them toned down and simple so as not to over complicate or overshadow that glamorous red prom dress you’re wearing.
If You Can’t Exactly Match the Shade of Red, Avoid It
While really on-point fashionistas can master a red-monochromatic look, you really need to have an eye for this type of thing. If you’re not as gifted in this department, we suggest staying away from adding red accessories alogether because often, you’re not going to be able to find the right shades of red to match and your whole getup can end up looking wonky. If you’re not able to directly match your reds, try to stay away from red shoes, red jewelry, and red handbags altogether.
Silver or Gold Accents Are (Usually) a Win
If you think you absolutely need a little pop of pizazz in your red get-up, try adding in some tiny accents of sparkling silver or gold. Both of these shades can be winners for your red dress if you’re using them in small amounts, so consider them for bracelets, necklaces, shoes, or clutches. Again, try not to do anything too extravagant as you want the focus to stay on that fabulous dress you’re wearing!
Black & White Are Both Great Choices, But For Different Reasons
You honestly can’t go wrong with black and white, but for very different reasons. If you choose a few black accessories (shoes or a clutch), you’re going to instantly spice up your look. If you want something sensual, strong, and classy, then adding in the right black accessory can really turn the heat up on your whole look. Then again, if you want to soften your look overall, opt for some white accessories – think pearl necklaces or cream shoes!
